The Huntland High School Lady Hornets beat the Moore County Raiderettes 7-0 at home Tuesday for their 12th win of the season.

The Lady Hornets took the lead in the middle innings and pulled away late while pitcher Ashtyn Danley recorded a complete-game shutout in the district contest.

The Lady Hornets got their first run of the day in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Hadley Gardner. Gardner came around to score a few batters later on an RBI single by Jocy May to make it a 2-0 game.

The Lady Hornets tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth as Blair Finchum hit an RBI single to put the score at 3-0.

The Raiderettes got their first baserunner of the contest in the top of the sixth off of an error, but that runner would be stranded at second base to keep Moore County off of the board.

The Lady Hornets more than doubled their lead in the bottom of the sixth as an RBI single by Gardner and a three-run double by May made it a 7-0 game.

The Raiderettes broke up Danley no-hitter with a pair of singles in the top of the seventh, but they still weren’t able to push any runs across as Huntland won by seven.

Danley finished the game with seven strikeouts and two hits allowed in the shutout performance.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 12-4 on the season and 6-1 in district play.

They will next play Wednesday at home against New Hope High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
