F.C. Library’s featured artist is Bill Morgan
The amazing artwork of the Franklin County Library’s featured artist, Bill Morgan, is on display now through June 16 during regular library hours.
Morgan’s work, “Modern Expressions of Nature,” incorporates bright colors with a minimalist approach to convey his vision of the flora and fauna of the natural world. His unique method creates the depth and beauty that his eye perceives.
Morgan’s interest in art started at age 10 when he challenged his little brother, Gavin, to a sketching contest of their Hot Wheels cars. Fishing soon after caught Morgan’s interest, but his artists’ acuity persisted as he marveled at the colors and shadows he observed.
Morgan credits his inspiration to his artist mother, the late Patricia “Pat” Miller, who was showcased on the front page of the newspaper in the mid-1980s for her mural work in Franklin County. He appreciates the example she set.
“I am grateful and honored that I received some of my mother’s creative genes to keep an artwork legacy steady throughout the generations of our family,” Morgan said.
With his mother’s encouragement, all eight of his siblings remain creatively inclined.
Morgan said that it was while residing in California and being shut in for months due to state restrictions during the pandemic that art became a means of coping with the many hours of solitude. In fact, he acknowledges that his art is a life-saving gift.
Morgan’s art pieces may be purchased and he may be commissioned for pieces by contacting him at 931-307-9010 or william.halibut@gmail.com.
