Rebels take road loss to Tullahoma

The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Tullahoma Wildcats 11-1 on the road Thursday for their sixth loss of the season.

The Rebels were limited to one hit for the day on the offensive end, and the Wildcats pulled away with an eight-run fifth inning to bring an early end to the contest.

The Wildcats scored a pair of runs in the first inning with one run coming on a sacrifice fly and the other coming due to a Franklin County error to jump out to a quick lead.

The Wildcats capitalized on another error by the Rebels in the bottom of the third to push another run across and make it a 3-0 game.

The Rebels loaded the bases in the top of the fourth when Payton Miller reached base on an error, Brayden Henley walked and Wyatt Lowe got hit by a pitch with two outs, but a strikeout ended the frame before any of the runners could score.

Jacob Hardison got the lone hit of the day for the Rebels in the top of the fifth as he singled in between Casen Gilliam drawing a walk and Sam Vincent getting hitting by a pitch to load the bases.

Austin Roberts then drew a walk with the bases-loaded to score Gilliam from third and put the score at 3-1.

However, the Wildcats sent 11 batters to the plate and scored eight runs in the bottom half of the fifth to end the contest via the mercy rule as the Rebels lost by 10.

With the loss, the Rebels moved to 8-6 on the season.

They will next play Friday at Lincoln County High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
