Ham radio classes start this month
The Middle Tennessee Amateur Radio Society is offering a six-week course for anyone who wishes to earn their technician class (entry level) FCC Amateur Radio License.
Classes will be held at the Manchester Library, 1005 Hillsboro Blvd. in Manchester. Pre-registration and payment is required no later than March 18.
The six-week classes start March 25 and will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Other dates include April 1, April 15, April 22, April 29 and May 6. There will be no class on April 8.
Cost is $30 to reserve your seat and includes the ARRL license manual to be distributed on the first day of class. The cost also includes a one-year MTARS membership upon passing the technician exam.
The ARRL test will be held on May 13 at the Emergency Management Office, 300 Hillsboro Ave. in Manchester. The testing fee is $15. The FCC license charge is $35 for license processing.
