Rebels top Coffee County for road district victory

The Franklin County Rebels beat the Coffee County Raiders 51-45 on the road Tuesday for their 10th win of the season.
The Rebels never trailed in the district contest and held a double-digit lead for most of the second half as they recorded their third straight victory.
After a few ties in the early moments of the game, the Rebels went on a 13-4 run to create some separation on the scoreboard.
They led 17-11 after one quarter.
The Rebels added a few more points to their advantage in the second quarter as they were able to build their lead up to double digits.
They led 29-19 at halftime.
The Rebels’ lead peaked at 16 points late in the third quarter as they remained in firm control throughout the period.
They led 41-27 going into the final period.
The Rebels did all of their scoring from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter as they maintained a double-digit advantage until the last 20 seconds of the game when the Raiders scored five quick points to put the final lead at six.
Sam Vincent led the Rebels with 15 points for the game, followed by Kaleb Rigsby with 11 points and Ke’Andre Johnson and Kenyon Fuqua with nine points each.
Kai Baker scored four points and Ethan Stephens scored three.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 10-13 on the season and 3-2 in district play.
They will next play Thursday against Columbia Academy at Motlow State Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
