Gators hold off West for road victory

The North Middle School Gators beat the West Bobcats 33-26 on the road Thursday for their third win of the season.

The Gators pulled ahead in the second quarter and maintained their lead throughout the second half as they ended a five-game losing streak with the victory.

The Bobcats took an early lead in the contest as they opened the game with their best offensive period. Jackson Knight scored four of North’s six points in the first quarter.

The Gators trailed 10-6 after one quarter.

The Gators held the Bobcats to just two total points in the second quarter as they were able to flip the scoreboard in their favor.

North led 17-12 at halftime.

The Gators added another point to their lead in the third quarter as they held the Bobcats at bay throughout the period.

North led 23-17 going into the final period.

The Gators were able to maintain a steady advantage in the fourth quarter as they didn’t give up any ground before finishing off the seven-point win.

Knight led the Gators with nine points for the game, followed by Kyran Peace with eight points and Austin Heath with seven.

Jayden Cisco scored four points, Monte Johnson scored three and Preston Steele scored two.

With the win, the Gators improved to 3-9 on the season.

They will next play in the Central Tennessee Conference tournament which is scheduled to begin next week. A bracket for the tournament had not been released at the time of writing.
