Early voting gets into full swing Wednesday

With Monday’s voter-registration deadline having passed, the next chapter in Franklin County’s primary election extends from April 15-30 when early voting occurs.

Early voting for the May 5 primary will take place at the Election Commission Office in the Franklin County Annex Building at 839 Dinah Shore Blvd. in Winchester. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to noon on the two Saturdays during the early-voting period.

The Republican ballot includes five contested races.

Douglas Freund is challenging incumbent Franklin County Mayor Chris Guess.

Former County Commissioner James Cantrell is challenging incumbent Scottie Riddle for the District 3, Seat A position.

Former County Commissioner Greg King will be challenging incumbent District 4, Seat A Commissioner Tyler Bauer for his old seat along with John W. Skidmore.

Former Commissioner Charles “Chuck” Stines and John M. Ingle are vying for the District 4, Seat B commission position.

Tim Wright and Christopher Lee Hobbs are vying for the District 1 constable position.

Candidates for uncontested County Commission races on the Republican ballot include David Eldridge, District 1, Seat A; Lydia Curtis Johnson, District 1, Seat B; William “Billy” Anderson, District 2, Seat A; Carolyn Wiseman, District 2, Seat B; Dale Schultz, District 3, Seat B; Silas T. Earle, District 6, Seat A; Jarad Shetters, District 6, Seat B; Sam Davidson, District 7, Seat A; Chris Hawkersmith, District 7, Seat B; Glenn T. Summers, District 8, Seat A; and Edie Snyder, District 8, Seat B.

Charles Keller is running uncontested in the sheriff race on the Republican primary ballot while Robert Baggett is running unopposed for the Circuit Court clerk position.

Tina Clark Sanders is running uncontested for county clerk, and Nancy K. Ringer is also running uncontested for register of deeds.

Andrea K. Binkley is unchallenged for the role of third road commissioner, Districts 3 and 4.

Sandy Schultz, District 1; Dave Van Buskirk, District 3; and Caycee Hanger Roberts, District 7, are unchallenged in the School Board races for the Republican primary.

Danny B. Hall is unchallenged in the District 4 constable race.

The Republican ballot also includes a Tullahoma School Board race in a best-of-four format with Sherrie Cleveland, Teresa Armstrong Lawson, Cathy Manis, Gigi Robison and Andy Whitt vying for the positions.

The entire Democratic primary ballot includes seven uncontested candidates — Wade Anderton, running for county commissioner, District 1, Seat B; Bruce D. McMillian, county commissioner, District 5, Seat A; Johnny R. Hughes, first road commissioner, Districts 1 and 5; Bobby R. Clark, third road commissioner, Districts 3 and 4; Ashley Bowers, School Board, District 7; Mark A. Vanzant, constable, District 1; and Stuart Schuch, constable, District 8.

Independent candidates who qualified for positions to challenge the Republican and Democrat primary victors in the Aug. 6 general election include: — Stanley Bean, County Commission, District 1, Seat A.

— Daniel Wiggs, County Commission, District 7, Seat A.
