BRANNAN, Charles Howell, Sr.,

age 80, of Cowan, Tenn., departed this life on Monday, May 4, 2026, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Brannan was born in Winchester, Tenn., on October 8, 1945, to the late John Benjamin Brannan and Laura Cornielus Black Brannan. He was of the Episcopal faith. Mr. Brannan loved John Wayne westerns. He was retired after 43 years of employment at Tennessee Tannery as a leather technician. He was an avid fisherman that enjoyed taking his family fishing and camping. His children have many fond memories of their times together fishing and camping. More recently, Mr. Brannan became a huge supporter of the Tennessee Lottery, especially scratch offs. His favorite times were spent when his children and grandchildren would come to visit and they would play cards, cook and eat and he would just have fun spoiling his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda “Susie” Hopkins Brannan; his sister, Reba Brannan; and brothers, Jack, Bill, Donald, Bobby and Ted Brannan. He is survived by his son, Charles Howell Brannan, Jr. of Winchester, Tenn.; daughters, Glenda “Sissy” Morrison and husband Scottie of Belvidere, Tenn., Reba Brannan of Winchester, Tenn., and Lisa Brannan (Larry Farrar) of Cowan, Tenn.; granddaughters, Tiffany Ray, Madison Morrison, Britney Brannan, Kayla Brannan, Laura Williams, Ashley Alford and Brianna Alford; great- grandchildren, Mason Ray, Amillia Morrison, Kaya Brannan, Lucas Lappin, Christopher, Sophia and Jaxon Davenport, Charles Crafton, Michael “M.J.” Scully, River Webb and Wyatt Alford; brother, Jimmy “Weasie” Brannan of Sewanee; and bonus family members, Billy Watson, Larry Farrar and Freddie Parsons. Visitation for Mr. Brannan was scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Wednesday evening, May 6, 2026, in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Interment followed in the Cowan Montgomery Cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Susie.
