JAMES DYER

 DYER, James Henry “Shorty,” age 90, of Pelham, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at St. Thomas-Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Mr. Dyer was born in Pelham on June 9, 1932, to the late David Hampton and Tommie Little Dyer. A 30-year member of the Prairie Plains Church of Christ, Mr. Dyer was a tour guide at Wonder Cave from 1955 until 1978 and he later retired from Stuckey’s in the 1990’s. He loved to garden, go camping and fishing and spend time at The Cabin with family and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Tommie Ruth Bonner and Harold David Dyer and nephew, Terry Bonner. He is survived by his sister, Rachel (Arnold) Arrick; nieces and nephews, Tim Arrick, Kelli (Dean) Oliver, Jocelyn (Anthony) Smith, Cindy (Ricky) Summers, David (Kim) Dyer and Sharon Bonner; great and great-great nieces and nephews; special friends, Robert Elliott, Billy Hill and many other family and friends. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Prairie Plains Church of Christ. Funeral services immediately followed at 3 p.m. at the church.
