Huntland Middle boys rout Highland Rim for home win

The Huntland Middle School Hornets beat the Highland Rim Hornets 52-34 at home Thursday for their 18th win of the season.
A dominant third quarter paved the way to a blowout victory for the Huntland Hornets as they were able to cruise through the rest of the contest.
Huntland scored nine straight points to end the opening period as the run turned an early deficit into a lead for the hosting Hornets.
They led 15-11 after one quarter.
Huntland remained in front throughout the second quarter with a run of six straight points at the end of the period bringing the early lead up to double digits.
Huntland led 29-19 at halftime.
The Huntland Hornets didn’t allow any points in the third quarter while having their best offensive period of the night on the other end of the court as the deficit almost tripled.
They led 48-19 going into the final period.
Highland Rim got back on track offensively in the fourth quarter, but Huntland remained comfortably in front and easily finished off the 18-point victory.
Micah Tipps led Huntland with 19 points for the game, followed by Julius Miller with 11 points and Luke Yarbrough with eight.
Davis Keith scored five points, Bryant Mooney scored four, Princeton Maxwell scored three and Adon Bass scored two.
With the win, the Huntland Hornets improved to 18-1 on the season.
They will next play Monday at home against Unity Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
