Smoked meat sale

Franklin County High School Softball is selling smoked meats for Super Bowl Sunday. An 8-10-pound Boston butt is $50, a rack of baby back ribs is $28 and butt-naked smoked wings are $20. Order by Feb. 7 by contacting any FCHS softball player. Pick up date is Feb. 12 at the Franklin County Farmers Market Pavilion.

Big Brothers & Big Sisters meeting

Anyone interested in becoming a mentor for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Tennessee Valley is urged to attend an information session today from 5-7 p.m. at Franklin County Library.

SCHRA meeting

South Central Human Resource Agency Head Start/Early Head Start Policy Council meets today at 10:30 a.m. at the SCHRA central office in Fayetteville.

Polar Plunge

Everyone is invited to the Polar Plunge on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the boat ramp near Lakeview Marina inside Tims Ford State Park. Cost is $30 and includes a Tims Ford beach towel. Register at friendsoftimsfordstatepark.com.

Wings of Hope Widow’s Ministry

The Wings of Hope Widow’s Ministry will host a birthday celebration Monday at noon at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 200 Second Ave. NW, Winchester. All widows are welcome to bring a $2 gift for exchange and enjoy games and soup and birthday cake. For information, call 931-636-4359.

Chili supper

The Franklin County Republican Party will hold its annual chili supper on Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Red Roof Pavilion in Winchester City Park. The public is welcome.

Safety checkpoint

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct a roadside-safety checkpoint on Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. at UT Farm Road and Spring Creek Road in Estill Springs.

FCHS Class of 1961

Classmates, spouses and friends of the FCHS Class of 1961 are invited to attend the classes’ fifth Tuesday dinner on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. at Merle’s Restaurant, 632 David Crockett Hwy. in Winchester.

Hog Day

Everyone is welcome to join in for the 15th annual Hog Day giveaway on Feb. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Davis, Kessler and Davis Attorney at Law office in Winchester. Enjoy free food and entertainment. Two hogs will be given away.

Feb. 4

STLS Wine and Spirit Tasting

The Southern Tennessee Ladies’ Society invites everyone to its 12th annual Wine and Spirit Tasting on Feb. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the Franklin County Country Club. Tennessee Songwriters

Tennessee Tourism, the Bluebird Café and NSAI invite area songwriters to share their original work on stage with other writers on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Oldham Theatre in Winchester. Sound equipment will be provided, but if you play a musical instrument, you must provide it. The winner of this qualifying round will advance to the next round with the finals being held at the Bluebird Café in Nashville. Judges are music-industry professionals. Chocolate Walk

Father Daughter Dance

The United Way of Franklin County Father Daughter Dance will be held March 25 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Monterey Station in Cowan. Photos begin at 4 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person and go on sale beginning Feb. 1 at Citizens Community Bank in Winchester. Only 400 tickets will be sold.
