Rebelettes take district loss at Coffee County

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Coffee County Lady Raiders 72-30 on the road Tuesday for their 16th loss of the season.
The Rebelettes fell into a massive hole in the first half and continued to fall further behind after halftime as they took their fifth straight defeat.
The Rebelettes answered a 7-0 run by the Lady Raiders to start the game with seven straight points of their own, but the Lady Raiders tacked on another seven points to close out the opening period.
Franklin County trailed 14-7 after one quarter.
The Lady Raiders ended the first half on a 17-3 run to bring the early deficit up to more than 20 points.
The Rebelettes trailed 40-14 at halftime.
The deficit continued to expand in the third quarter as the Rebelettes weren’t able to match Coffee County’s scoring pace.
They trailed 67-21 going into the final period.
A running clock was active throughout the fourth quarter with the Rebelettes making up some ground before losing by a final margin of 42 points.
Madison King led the Rebelettes with 10 points for the game, followed by Na’Kayjah Holman with nine points and Katie Walker with six.
Baylor Russell scored three points and Shayla Kennerly scored two.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 7-16 on the season and 0-5 in district play.
They will next play Thursday against Columbia Academy at Motlow State Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
