DON MOORE
MOORE, Don, age 85, of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at the Waters of Winchester. A native of Franklin County, he was born on April 21, 1937, to the late Walter and Lucy Hill Moore. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School. Don was a member of the Decherd First Baptist Church. He missed being able to attend church every time the doors were opened but Brother Chris made a point to visit him to pray as often as he could, an act he so deeply appreciated. Don loved being outside year-round and at any given time you could ride by and see him on his porch and get a holler and a wave. He loved gardening just to give it all away and mowing for people in the neighborhood who couldn’t do it for themselves. He was famous for the paintings on his outbuildings as people would say, “that’s the house with all of the drawings and UT things.” Don also enjoyed tinkering with anything and everything he could get his hands on, and he could sell anything; his specialty was lawn mowers. He was a very good artist and enjoyed showing his friends and family the picture he drew of his daddy’s mule. Don loved his grandkids and great-grandkids and spent as much time with them as he could. He never met a stranger, and if he did, they weren’t a stranger for long. He knew everybody and who they belonged to because everybody was family. Then let’s not forget, his blood ran orange through and through as he was one of the biggest University of Tennessee fans that ever walked. When Tennessee beat Alabama, his face showed his excitement and Don and his family celebrated and listened to Rocky Top as loud as they could. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Morris, James Moore, Edna Kelley, Lucille Garner, Ida Stewart, Charlie Moore and Roy Moore. Don is survived by his sister, Alline Rogers; children, Stacey Moore Mitchell and Scott Moore; grandchildren, Glenn and Brittney Mitchel, Blake and Jackie Moore; great-grandchildren, Jase Mitchell, Carson Hanak, Kaden and Maddox Moore, and Brantley Leon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that he always said he was so blessed to have. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, from noon to 2 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with services following at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Nolan officiating. Interment followed at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, 931-967-2222, www.moorecortner.com.

DANNY DURHAM
DURHAM, Danny “Rex,” fondly known as Rex, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023. Rex was born on Feb. 17, 1962, in Fayetteville, Tennessee to R.H. and Ann Durham. He was never too far from a hairbrush and likely didn’t want to look a day older than 60 so he promptly found a new party awaiting him in Heaven where he could be eternally young. Rex wore many hats throughout his life: talented athlete, effortless ladies’ man, master of the grill, dedicated Tennessee fan, sales expert, son, brother, father and Christ follower. He was preceded in death by his father, R.H. Durham and sisters, Lisa Duckett and Joyce Durham. Rex is survived by his wife and long-term caretaker, Sara; and three children, Cody Durham, Callie (and Philip) Hitchcock and Daniel Durham. Rex loved his family and was supportive to his siblings whom he leaves behind, Libby Brownfield of Estill Springs, Pam Wooten of Tullahoma, Tony (and Patsy) Durham of Collinsville, Mississippi, Patty (and Brian) Brazier of Estill Springs, Dennis Durham of Estill Springs, and Spencer (and April) Durham of Estill Springs. He was a grandfather to his grandsons, Graham and Preston Hitchcock, and secured his place forever more as a favorite uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and as the gold standard of “never meeting a stranger.” He was a relationship-builder through and through and loved developing connections with people. It’s one of the reasons that he excelled in sales for so many years as he was abundantly charismatic and personable. As an avid outdoorsman, he could often be found fishing, camping or grilling his famous brisket. He was known as a gifted baseball player in his youth and always had a glove and ball ready to toss around. Rex savored entertainment, whether it was music, films, or sports. Rex was a dedicated sports fan. He would jump at the chance to attend Vols or Titans games in person. If a game was being aired on television, you could bet that he had it on. He would often flip through the channels to see highlights if multiple games or races were on, much to the dismay of family and friends watching alongside him. He liked to think he was a master mechanic and enjoyed dabbling with cars. He thoroughly enjoyed NASCAR and local dirt track racing. A long-time believer, Rex became increasingly religious in recent years and hoped all of his family would come to know and accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. He was a member of World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and enjoyed the music ministry there. Friendly to his core, he could strike up a conversation with anyone. Everyone in the community knew Rex Durham and had pleasant things to say about him. He had an abundance of pride, but the singular thing he was most proud of was his children. Visitation was held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home with services following at 1 p.m. in the Roy B. Watson Chapel at Watson-North Funeral Home. Interment was held at Watson-North Memorial Park. Watson-North Funeral Home, 405 Sharp Springs Road, Winchester, TN 37398, 931-967-2345, www.watsonfhtn.com.
