Chocolate Walk provides local treat before Valentine’s Day

Chocolate and love for some reason just seem to go hand-in-hand, and area residents and visitors were treated to a Valentine’s Day precursor on Feb. 11 with the 2023 Chocolate Walk on the Winchester Square.

The event, sponsored by the Winchester Downtown Program Corp., gave businesses in and around the Square a chance to get into the Cupid’s Arrow theme in advance of Valentine’s Day, which was on Tuesday.

Local businesses and retailers participated by hosting merchandise sales intertwined with live music. Some establishments provided specialty beverages and, of course, delicious chocolates.

Many shoppers took advantage of the sales and deals by purchasing unique gifts. Many shoppers dressed in red, white or pink while attending the Chocolate Walk which only added to the festivities.

Even a pop-up Sweetheart market with various crafts and merchandise was set up near the Square — excellent for one-of-a-kind purchases.

One group of shoppers commented that attending the Chocolate Walk in Winchester is becoming an annual tradition for them.

The event was free and open to the public. However, pre-purchased tickets were sold which gave shoppers additional bonus incentives, including chocolates, at multiple businesses. Those shoppers were also provided with specially designed, reusable canvas tote bags.

Sponsors of the event this year included Filo’s Tavern, Franklin County Florist, Mali Thai Cuisine and Meshed.
