With all those events to choose from, children may want to hop from one hunt to another. Parents are advised to snap lots of photos that will be sure to evoke happy memories for years to come.
Former Herald Chronicle editorialist Alan Clark reflected on Easter memories in a column from years past, saying: “Moms used to be decked out in flowers and bonnets on Easter Sunday, at least in my day, and either before or after church, an Easter egg hunt was organized for the children, also dressed in their Easter Sunday finest, with candy often substituted for eggs, collected in the baskets provided to the young for the occasion. I also associate Easter with chocolate because of the ubiquitous chocolate bunnies available for purchase as gifts during the holiday.”
Herald Chronicle editorialist Gina Moore shared her favorite memories of Easter egg hunts with her children and advises everyone to “Never outgrow a good egg hunt!”
“Oh, how the excitement builds as the leader points out the boundaries of the territory to be hunted then finally shouts, ‘Go!’ Images of toddlers balancing baskets of eggs as they run toward something they spy … parents excitedly accompanying younger hunters, giving little hints along the way, if needed … someone noticing a hunter with an empty basket and stopping to share or to join them in their hunt … hunters separated into different age groups with varying degrees of difficulty in the hiding spots … some lucky child shouting, ‘I found it!’ as he/she proudly holds up a golden egg … yes, these memories make me smile. Happy Easter to each of you, and happy hunting (no matter your age)!”
