Rebelettes drop district contest at Warren County
S
The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Warren County Lady Pioneers 9-0 on the road Tuesday for their 14th loss of the season.
The Lady Pioneers did all of their scoring in the first two innings with the Rebelettes not being able to catch up as they took a loss in the district matchup.
The Lady Pioneers pulled ahead quickly with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first off of a one-out double.
Another seven Warren County runners crossed the plate in the bottom of the second to put the Rebelettes in a deep hole early.
Singles by Kaitlyn Montgomery and Madi Taylor and a walk drawn by Jocilyn DeSmet allowed the Rebelettes to load the bases in the top of the fourth, but the Lady Pioneers were able to escape the jam without any of the runners scoring.
A leadoff double by Destin Milner in the top of the fifth gave the Rebelettes another runner in scoring position. However, Milner wouldn’t advance any further as the Rebelettes were ultimately shut out the rest of the way in the nine-run loss.
Natalie Hagood pitched the first 1 1-3 innings for the Rebelettes with one strikeout, five hits, six earned runs and three unearned runs allowed.
Miley DeSmet followed with 4 2-3 scoreless innings in relief with one strikeout and two hits allowed.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 2-14 on the season and 0-2 in district play.
They will next play Thursday at home against Coffee County Central High School. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
