Camp Forest U9 finishes first at Alabama tourney
The Camp Forest Football Club U9 girls team recently traveled to Decatur, Alabama, for the 12th annual Open Cup with the players finishing first in their division.
The Camp Forest team, which includes several players from Franklin County, went unbeaten during the tournament on Saturday and Sunday with three wins and one tie for the weekend.
Camp Forrest started the event with two victories on Saturday as the team beat Madison Blaze Fire and Madison Blaze Inferno by scores of 7-1 and 4-2, respectively.
The U9 girls returned to action on Sunday with a 3-3 draw against Nashville’s Aris Football Club to set up a championship rematch later the day.
Camp Forest decisively beat Aris in the finals, winning by a score of 5-1 to secure the divisional championship at the Open Cup.
The Camp Forest U9 team is coached by Jim Tapp, Casey Jackson and Harrison Camp.
