Rebels take home loss to Lincoln County
S
The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Lincoln County Falcons 10-1 at home Saturday for their 12th loss of the season.
The Rebels fell behind in the middle innings and weren’t able to find a consistent rhythm on offense as their record for the season moved back below .500 with the loss.
Lincoln County’s first batter of the day hit a leadoff home run to give the Falcons a quick 1-0 advantage.
Sam Vincent led off the bottom of the first with a triple, but he wouldn’t be able to advance the final 90 feet home as two strikeouts and a popout ended the frame.
The Rebels got their only run of the day in the bottom of the second as Payton Miller singled, moved to second on a single by Graysen McNeese and came around to score on an error to tie the game at 1-1.
However, the Falcons took advantage of a few errors by the Rebels in the top of the third to score four runs in the frame and retake the lead at 5-1.
The score remained there until the Falcons added five more runs in the top of the sixth to more than double their advantage and put the Rebels in a nine-run hole late.
The Rebels weren’t able to answer back in the last two innings as they lost by nine.
With the loss, the Rebels moved to 11-12 on the season.
They will next play Monday at home against Warren County High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
