24 South tracksters advance to sectional meet

Trojans, Lady Trojans win sub-sectional titles

The South Middle School boys and girls track and field teams competed in their sub-sectional meet Monday and Wednesday at Riverdale High School.

The top four finishers in each event received berths to the Section 3A meet with 24 South athletes meeting that qualifying standard across 20 events for the two-day meet.

The Trojans and Lady Trojans also excelled in the team standings with South claiming sub-sectional titles on both sides of the meet.

The Lady Trojans finished the meet with 109 points to beat Central Magnet’s final total of 80 in the girls standings, and the Trojans’ 118.5 points put them well ahead of East’s 70 points for the top spot in the boys rankings.
