Reduced adoption fee

The Bissell Pet Foundation is teaming up with Dogtopia to sponsor reduced adoption fees of $50 or less during its spring national “Empty the Shelters” adoption event now through May 15 at Animal Harbor in Winchester, as well as more than 350 participating shelters in 45 states. Family fun night

Everyone is invited to a family fun night called “May the Fourth be with You School Wars” today from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Franklin County High School stadium. Enjoy a teen zone, kid zone, mascot dance-off, talent showcase, food trucks and school competitions.

National Day of Prayer

Franklin County’s National Day of Prayer event will be held today at noon at the Franklin County Annex Community Room, 855 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester. 

SCHRA meeting

A South Central Human Resource Agency Governing Board and Head Start/Early Head Start Policy Council special meeting will be held today at 11 a.m. at the central office in Fayetteville.

Spring Wriggle

The Spring Wriggle will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Winchester featuring art, merchant events and a music crawl.

FCHS 70s Decade Reunion

All Franklin County High School classes from 1960 through the 1990s are welcome to attend a FCHS 70s Decades Reunion Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Belvidere Community Center, 349 Belvidere Road, Belvidere. Food wagons will be available. This is a BYOB event with coolers welcome. Sodas and water will be provided inside the event. Photos will be taken at 7 p.m. The Hairy Canary Band will perform starting at 8 p.m. Raffle prizes will be given out. Cost for couples is $25 in advance or $30 at the door. High on the Hog Poker Run

Model-train show

Decoration Day

Decoration Day will be held on Sunday at the Frame Cemetery located in the Hurdlow community of Moore County. A covered-dish lunch will be held at 1 p.m. followed by memorial services and a business meeting. Everyone is urged to attend and renew old friendships.

The Glory Echoes

A singing featuring The Glory Echoes will be held on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Huntland Missionary Baptist Church, 306 Alabama St., Huntland. A fellowship meal will follow. Pastor Bruce Shockley welcomes everyone.

Food distribution

Christ the King Anglican Church, 1231 Cumberland St., Decherd, in association with Feed America First, will hold a food and grocery distribution for all in need on May 13 beginning at 9 a.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis. Remain in vehicles once in the church parking lot. 

One Day Community Outreach

Everyone is welcome to attend the One Day Community Outreach event on May 13 starting at 8:30 a.m. at First United Methodist and First Baptist churches of Winchester. Free services offered include medical, dental and vision screenings, haircuts, family portraits, food boxes and more.
