Middle school tracksters compete in CTC championship meet

North girls claim conference title

The boys and girls track and field teams of North Middle School and South Middle School competed in the Central Tennessee Conference championship meet Friday at the Coffee County Raider Academy.

The teams battled through rainy conditions throughout the day with the North tracksters combining for 23 top-three finishes, including 14 first-place performances, while the South athletes recorded five first-place finishes and 21 total placements inside of the top three.

The North Gatorettes finished on top of the team standings in their half of the meet as their 126 points edged out the South Lady Trojans’ total of 118.5 points for first place.

The North Gators took second in the boys standing with 107 points while the South Trojans finished close behind in third place with a score of 90. The Warren County Pioneers claimed the boys title after ending the meet with 116 points.

The conference championship meet was sponsored by Winton Auction and FirstBank of Tullahoma.

Following the conclusion of the meet, eight athletes each from North and South were named to the all-conference team for the season.

Representing North in receiving all-conference honors were Gracen Baggett, Sadie Hill, Audrey Stewart, Shekinah Miller, Monte Johnson, Austin Heath, Jacob Hohensee and Parker Hill.

South athletes that were recipients of all-conference nods included Jena Hand, Jada Hand, Madyson Dutz, Briley Taylor, Joey Mensinga, Spencer Garner, Jacoba Fells and Eli Kelleher.

Baggett, Hill, Taylor and Mensinga will be representing their respective schools in the middle school state championship meet on May 20 at Austin Peay State University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
