The Camp Forest Football Club U9 girls team competed in the Apollo Cup in Huntsville, Alabama, over the weekend and won the championship for its division.

The Camp Forest team, which includes several players from Franklin County, ended pool play with a record of 1-1-1 before avenging its lone loss of the tournament by beating the Oxford Football Club Navy team in the title game.

Competition started on Saturday with the Camp Forest U9 team playing Hartselle United to a 2-2 draw before falling to Oxford by a score of 3-1.

Camp Forest bounced back on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over the Madison Blaze Inferno to secure a spot in the championship game against Oxford.

The final game for the U9 division was a high-scoring affair with Camp Forest ultimately emerging as the winner by a score of 4-3.

The Camp Forest U9 team is coached by Jim Tapp, Casey Jackson and Harrison Camp.
