Lynchburg Jamboree

Everyone is invited to the Lynchburg Jamboree every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. on the Lynchburg Square.

Prenatal classes

Prenatal classes will be held on July 11 and Aug. 15 at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital in Tullahoma. Classes are free, but registration is required by calling 931-393-7938.

Farmers Market

The Franklin County Farmers Market is in full swing with local farmers offering plants, vegetables, baked and canned goodies, meats, eggs, crafts and more each Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon at 817 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester.

Free fishing

Tennessee’s 2023 Bobby Wilson Free Fishing Day is today and Friday in Tennessee, allowing all state youth ages 15 or younger to fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters.

The Franklin County Republican Ladies will hold a luncheon meeting today at 11:30 a.m. at SUNRISE (The Breakfast Place), 42 E. Heikens Dr., Decherd. State Rep. Iris Rudder will speak. All are welcome.

Friday Nights in the Park

Friday Nights in the Park will feature free live music on Friday at 6 p.m. in Sewanee’s Angel Park located in the heart of Sewanee, featuring Utopia. This event is family-friendly. University Avenue will be closed to traffic.

Juneteenth Festival

A Juneteenth Festival will be held on Saturday at the Bedford County Courthouse Square beginning with a memorial walk at 7 a.m. at Woodfork Chapel AME Church, 1011 Lipscomb St. Shelbyville, followed by a parade at 10 a.m., contests, vendors, food trucks, entertainment and more. Golf Fore Paws

Car, truck, motorcycle show

Juneteenth open house

The newly reconstituted St. Mark’s Community Association is hosting a Juneteenth Open House and Heritage Trail Dedication at the newly restored St. Mark’s Community Center, 481 Alabama Ave. in Sewanee, on Sunday from 1–5 p.m. Enjoy food, games and entertainment as well as tours of the Heritage Trail.

Spirit of America Boating Camp

The Spirit of America Youth Boating Camp will be held June 19-23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for 12-15-year-olds at the recreation hall located inside Tims Ford State Park. Students will learn water safety, receive a Tennessee boating license and experience three days of water training with multiple types of boats. Space is limited. Cost is $85. Boston butt sale

Franklin County AM Rotary will hold a Boston butt sale on July 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with pickup in the Franklin County Annex building parking lot at 829 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester. Cost is $50 each (average size is 11 pounds pre-cook). Proceeds benefit the FCHS Interact Club.

Fireworks show

Twin Creeks Marina and the City of Winchester will host their Fourth of July Thunder over the Lake fireworks show viewable from the Winchester City Park or from a boat on the lake at dusk on July 4.

Sewanee Fourth of July

Everyone is invited to a day of fun during Sewanee’s Fourth of July celebration on July 4 on University Avenue in Sewanee. The theme of the celebration is “Fly like an Eagle.” Visit sewanee4thofjuly.org to register for the parade, arts and crafts fair and food-truck vending.

A Junior Ranger Camp for 12-15-year-olds will be held July 17-21 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Nature Center inside Tims Ford State Park. Campers will learn about a variety of outdoor topics and skills. Cost is $70 and will include a T-shirt, drawstring bag, snacks and activities. Space is limited.
