The Franklin County volleyball Rebelettes competed in a playday Saturday at The Webb School and ended the event with a record of 3-1.
Franklin County head volleyball coach Herbert Horton said that the event was an overall success for his team as a final tune-up before the start of the 2023 season.
“Overall, it was a great day for Franklin County volleyball! Our players played hard with a lot of intensity, and we improved,” he said.
The Rebelettes started the day with consecutive sweeps as they beat the Forrest Lady Rockets and the Life Christian Academy Lady Eagles in two sets apiece.
The Rebelettes then played the Stewarts Creek Lady Hawks and lost in three sets for their lone defeat of the day.
All three sets were close on the scoreboard with the Lady Hawks claiming victory in the first and third sets while the Rebelettes won the second set to extend the match.
Horton said that the second set against Stewarts Creek was probably the best set that his team had played this summer.
The Rebelettes ended the day by facing the hosting Webb Feet and winning in three sets.
The Rebelettes won the first set in decisive fashion before the Feet rallied late in the second set to tie the overall score at 1-1.
The Rebelettes found themselves trailing in the third set, but they rallied for a two-point victory in the frame to claim a victory in the match.
The Rebelettes will open their 2023 season on Aug. 14 at home against Fayetteville City High School. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
