Hornet golfers open season at Bear Trace
The Huntland High School Hornet golfers competed in a nine-hole match Tuesday at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford against the teams of Giles County and Moore County.
The Hornets ended the day in third place for the district match with a combined team score of 231.
The Giles County Bobcats finished in first place with a group score of 172 while the Moore County Raiders took second place with a total score of 193.
Lucas Freeman led the Hornets in scoring as he completed his nine holes with a score of 53, followed closely by teammate Carson Riley with score of 57.
Kamden Smith completed the course in 60 strokes, and Landon Farmer rounded out the top performances for the Hornets for the day with a score of 61.
The Hornet golfers will next compete on Aug. 15 against Forrest High School and Moore County at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
