Rebel golfers host tournament at Bear Trace

The Franklin County High School boys and girls golf teams hosted a tournament Wednesday at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford with golfers from nine schools in action at the event.

The Franklin County Rebelette golfers finished third out of five teams at the tournament with a combined team score of 210.

The Lincoln County Lady Falcons finished first in the girls standings with a group score of 179, and the Warren County Lady Pioneers followed in second place with 194 strokes for the day.

Franklin County’s Amelia Maxon finished eighth out of 15 golfers with a score of 104 for the event.

Teammate Savana Pendergraff shot a score of 106 in the tournament to finish tied for ninth among the individual girls golfers.

For the boys standings, the Franklin County Rebels placed fifth out of seven teams with their group score of 167 putting them just two strokes behind Tullahoma for fourth place.

The teams in the top three for the tournament and their team scores for the day were Cookeville, 308; Coffee County, 319; and Stone Memorial, 353.

Chase Towry had the best individual performance for the Rebels on the day as his score of 87 put him in a tie for 13th place out of 38 individual boys golfers.

Jackson Lynch and Evan Lynch were both right behind Towry on the scoreboard as their respective scores of 88 and 89 put them in ties for 16th and 19th among the individuals.

Garrett Patterson carded a score of 103 for the tournament to round out the scoring for the Rebels with Brody Metcalf recording a mark of 114 for the Rebels as well.

The FCHS boys and girls golf teams will next compete on Tuesday in a nine-hole match against Shelbyville Central High School at the River Bend Country Club. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
