Request made to change Clark bus zone
Clark Memorial Principal David Carson has asked the School Board to revise school busing zones on grounds that some students living closer to Clark are being transported to Decherd.
“We need those kids back in our school,” he told the School Board at its Aug. 14 meeting. “It needs to be rectified.”
Carson referred to several subdivisions that are nearer to Clark Elementary than Decherd, but the bus zone is drawn so that they are taken to Decherd Elementary School rather than where he deems they should be.
He also said it’s an inconvenience for those students because they have to be transported through three major intersections to get to DES.
Carson said he had brought the issue to former Director of Schools Stanley Bean’s attention. However, he added that the bus zones have not changed at all.
He requested the board consider following through with his request to change the bus zones.
