Pet wellness and awareness fair set for Saturday
Animal Harbor will hold a pet wellness clinic and awareness fair for community pets on Saturday.
Services offered will include certain free vaccines, pet food by need, reduced-fee spay/neuter (not performed on site), reduced-fee rabies shots and other services for community pets. The clinic is limited to three pets per household.
The clinics are held for Franklin County residents only on the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon at Animal Harbor, 56 Nor-Nan Road. Proof of residency in Franklin County as well as proof of income will be required for services.
Those without a current photo ID with a Franklin County address will be asked to provide a utility bill sent to their current Franklin County address in their name.
There will be limited quantities of vaccines available and pre-registration assures those who submit all requirements and meet qualifications will receive a free vaccination the day of the clinic. To pre-register, visit animalharbor.org or call 931-962-4472.
Participants whose pets are not altered (fixed/ spayed/neutered) will be required to take part in the Spay/Neuter Assistance program at the time of their visit.
Pets with fleas or ticks upon arrival will be given a dose of medication that will cover a month of prevention, and owners will be charged a $5 fee. Nail trims will be available for $5, provided pets are cooperative. The clinic staff may refuse care of any aggressive or feral animal.
There will be a limited quantities of spay and neuter appointments and available vaccines on site. Therefore, priority will be given to those who meet the following income brackets: single — $22,000 or less annually; or household — $35,000 or less annually.
However, if your household (two or more members) income is between $36,000 and $50,000, please apply to be considered as determined by need, supply and demand.
Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles and bring their cats in carriers and dogs on a leash.
Carriers and leashes will be provided to anyone who needs them. Wellness clinics are possible through a partnership program with Petco Love.
