Police recover RZRs stolen from Pioneer

After receiving additional leads, Decherd police are seeking further information about a Sept. 5 burglary at Pioneer Motorcycles where three Polaris side-by-side vehicles were stolen from the 962 AEDC Road business.

A press release from the Police Department says that all three vehicles, including a RZR XP 1000, a RZR Pro R 4 and a RZR Turbo R 4, have been recovered with two being found on Sept. 13 in wooded areas.

Police reports said that an individual who had purchased one of the stolen vehicles, not knowing that it was stolen property, had seen a post of the vehicle on the Police Department’s Facebook page and reported the information to authorities.

The individual turned over his purchase, the RZR XP 1000, to authorities after it was positively identified by its vehicle identification number.

The RZR Pro R 4 was found a short distance off Elk River Dam Road in a wooded area on Sept. 13 as the investigation continued, reports said.

Decherd police executed a search warrant on a residence on Pleasant Grove Road later that day and recovered further evidence in connection with the Pioneer burglary.

A Polaris Sportsman 450 that had been stolen from a residence in Franklin County on Aug. 28 was discovered during the execution of that search warrant, reports said.

Further evidence was obtained leading police to recover the RZR Turbo R 4 in a remote wooded area later in the evening on Sept. 13 near the trailer park on Elk River Drive.

The investigation into the burglary is still in progress, reports said.

The Decherd Police Department is asking anyone who may have further information to contact Franklin County Communications at 931-967-2331, call the Police Department during business hours at 931-962-1675 or message the department’s Facebook page.
