Rebelettes take district loss to Spring Hill in four sets

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Spring Hill Lady Raiders in four sets at home Thursday for their 16th loss of the season.

The first two sets were split between the district opponents with the Rebelettes dropping the next two frames to take a loss.

A 12-3 run by the Lady Raiders midway through the opening set put Franklin County in a 23-14 hole. The Rebelettes weren’t able to bounce back in the set as they took a 25-17 loss to begin the match.

The Rebelettes jumped out to a 9-1 lead to start the second set, but the Lady Raiders later chipped the deficit down to 16-15.

The Rebelettes remained in front, however, and ultimately claimed a 25-21 set victory to tie the overall score at 1-1.

The lead changed hands several times in the third set with the score tied at 17-17 late in the frame.

The Lady Raiders scored the last eight points of the set to give the Rebelettes a 25-17 defeat in the frame as Franklin County fell behind by a score of 2-1 in the match.

The Rebelettes jumped out to a 13-9 lead to start the fourth set before the Lady Raiders went on a 13-1 run to flip the scoreboard.

The Rebelettes made up a small amount of ground in the set’s final moments, but the Lady Raiders won the frame by a score of 25-19 to end the match.

With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 5-16 on the season and 3-9 in district play.

They will next play Tuesday at Columbia Central High School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
