The North and South middle school volleyball teams competed in the Central Tennessee Conference varsity and JV tournaments Saturday at South Middle School.

The fifth-seeded North Gatorettes got off to a strong start in the varsity bracket as they beat the fourth-seeded Harris Eaglettes in three sets.

The Gatorettes took the first set by a score of 25-21 before taking a narrow 25-22 loss in the second frame.

The Gatorettes bounced back to win the third set by a 15-10 margin to pick up a victory in the quarterfinal matchup.

The top-seeded Tullahoma Lady Wildcats would then eliminate the Gatorettes from contention in the conference semifinals as North fell by scores of 25-10 and 25-15 for a two-set sweep.

The sixth-seeded South Lady Trojans lost in the first round of the varsity bracket to the third-seeded Warren County Lady Pioneers.

The Lady Trojans kept the score relatively close in the first set before taking a 25-18 loss in the frame, and the Lady Pioneers took the second set by a score of 25-10 to end the match.

In the JV bracket, the fourth-seeded Gatorettes had a nearly identical start to their varsity counterparts as they started the day by beating Harris in straight sets.

The Gatorettes won the first set by a score of 25-10 and the second set by a 25-16 margin to advance to the semifinals to take on the top-seeded Tullahoma Lady Wildcats.

The JV Lady Wildcats took the first set by a score of 25-20, but the JV Gatorettes rebounded for a 25-21 win in the second frame.

The Gatorettes carried their momentum into the third set as they recorded a 15-7 win for the frame to stun the top seed and move on to the JV conference championship match.

However, the Gatorettes settled for finishing as the JV conference runners-up as they lost to the third-seeded Coffee County Lady Raiders in straight sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-11 for the championship round.

The sixth-seeded JV Lady Trojans were also eliminated from the bracket by the Lady Raiders with their defeat coming in the quarterfinals by equal scores of 25-18 in the first and second sets.

Following the conclusion of the tournaments, Leah Hardison was named to the all-conference team for North while Hayliegh Troupe received the same accolade for South.

With the loss in the varsity bracket, the Lady Trojans finished their season with a record of 0-13.

With the results from the varsity tournament, the Gatorettes moved to 3-9 on the season.
