Rebelettes drop home match to Grundy County

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Grundy County Lady Jackets in straight sets at home Wednesday for their 18th loss of the season.

The Rebelettes held an early lead in each set, but the Lady Jackets took control at the end of each one to sweep them in their final home match of the regular season.

Franklin County head volleyball coach Herb Horton said that passing miscues hurt his team’s momentum throughout the contest.

“I thought that, at times, we played well. We’re just making too many passing mistakes,” he said. “We’re just giving points away. Until we correct that, it’s going to be hard for us to get a run.”

The Lady Jackets went on a 15-6 run early in the opening set to take a 17-10 lead over the Rebelettes.

They Rebelettes were able to whittle the deficit down to two points at 21-19 later in the frame, but the Lady Jackets scored the next four points to clinch a 25-19 victory for the set.

The score was tied at 10 different points in the second set as the Rebelettes kept the score close throughout before ultimately taking a 25-22 loss for the game to fall behind by an overall score of 2-0.

A run of seven straight points by the Lady Jackets midway through the third set turned a 9-9 tie into a 16-9 deficit for the Rebelettes.

The deficit remained steady through the end of the set with a 25-17 loss for the Rebelettes in the frame bringing an end to the match.

With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 5-18 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at Tullahoma High School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
