Halloween activities planned through end of month

For many children and adults alike, Halloween is a favorite time of the year when no matter what trickery and terror may await, you know for sure there will be sweet treats at the end of the night.

The following events in the area will help you plan your thrilling adventures starting tonight and continuing for five more days of mischief and tomfoolery.

Halloween display

For those who love Halloween spectacles, the Brockman Dancing Lights drive-thru Halloween display is ready for viewing all this month at 1826 Dabbs Ford Road in Decherd. Hours are Sunday through Thursday from dark until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from dark until 11 p.m. Tune in to 100.1. Visit the Brockman Dancing Lights Facebook page for updates.

Trunk or treat

Wear your costume tonight and enjoy a trunk-or-treat event from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with Franklin County High School athletes in the FCHS back parking lot.

Haunted Hallow Walk

In nearby Manchester, the first Haunted Hallow Walk will be held each night this month from 6-11 p.m. at 190 Grandview Drive, Manchester. This walk is safe for all ages. A special night of trick-or-treating will be held on Oct. 28.

Haunted hay rides

Gruetli-Laager is the place to visit for haunted hay rides on Friday and Saturday starting at dark at 636 Fletcher Road in Gruetli-Laager. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Haunted house

The Pelham Valley Fire and Rescue Department is hosting its eerie haunted-house adventures on Friday and Saturday from 7-11 p.m. at 3908 US Highway 41 in Pelham. Visit twistednightmares.org to learn more.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat will be held at the Farmers Market, 851 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester, on Friday from 5-7 p.m. Join in for candy and costumes.

Pumpkin parade

Everyone is invited to trunk or treat as part of a pumpkin parade on Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on College Street in Huntland.  

Fright Night

Arnold Services invites everyone to Fright Night Friday from 5-9 p.m. at the Arnold AFB Golf Course. Enjoy food trucks from 5-8 p.m. Trunk or treat starts at 5:30 p.m. An adult and kids costume contest and pumpkin-carving contest start at 8 p.m. with prizes presented. Bring your own pumpkin.  

Haunted Island

The Haunted Island at Devil’s Step will be held Friday starting at 5 p.m. and Saturday starting at 8 p.m. at the Devil’s Step Boat Ramp featuring a short boat ride to Devil’s Step Island. All ages are welcome. Cost is $20 per person. Tickets are available at reserve.tnstateparks.com.

Haunted Theatre

The Manchester Arts Center’s Haunted Theatre will be held Friday and Saturday from 6-10 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased the night of the event.

Winchester Ghost Tours

Enjoy some ghostly stories on Saturday starting at the Old Jail Museum, 296 South Bluff Street, Winchester. Stanley Bean will host these frightful tours with haunted stories featuring some of the buildings around Winchester. These stories are sure to create shivers down your spine. Park at Holt’s Diner. Tours get underway at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Cost is $20 per person with limited slots available. See Winchesterdowntown.com for information and tickets. 

Trick or Treat

Trick or treat at Bennett’s Pharmacy, 1201 Dinah Shore Blvd. in Winchester, on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. Wear your costume to compete in a costume contest with prizes for winners. Enjoy ghost cookies and bloody Marty punch.

Halloween Bash

Enjoy a Halloween Bash event presented by Manchester Parks and Recreation on Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Rotary Park in Manchester. Activities include trunk or treat, food trucks, a costume contest, a hayride and a cake walk (small fee for these two activities). The movie “Hocus Pocus 2” will be shown at 7:30 p.m.

Boo Bash

Winchester Downtown’s Boo Bash is Saturday starting at 5 p.m. in downtown Winchester. Enjoy a costume contest, trick-or-treating, a pumpkin-carving contest, historic ghost tours and more fun for the whole family.

Haunted barn

Visit the Vanzant farm Saturday at 330 Robinson Road in Winchester for a haunted barn as well as games, food, hayrides and fun. The event starts with games from 5-6 p.m. with the haunted barn opening at 7 p.m. Any donations are appreciated.

Master illusionist

Everyone is invited to see professional illusionist and evangelist Matt Adams on Saturday from 7-8 p.m. at Winchester First Baptist Church, 108 South High St., Winchester. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. A drawing for door prizes will be held and goodie bags will be presented to children.

Trunk or treat cruise in

A free trunk or treat cruise-in will be held Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at the Coffee County Administrative Plaza, 1329 McArthur St., Manchester, presented by the Custom Auto and Rod Shop.

Fall festival

Everyone is invited to a fall festival for trunk-or-treat food and fun on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. at the First Apostolic Church Pavilion located behind Hardee’s in Winchester. Enjoy a bounce house, cornhole and a chili contest.

Halloween tea

For something truly unique, come and enjoy Ghoul Friend Halloween Tea on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Magnolia Hill Manor, 974 Lynchburg Road, Winchester. Cost is $25 per person. Call 931-327-5056 for tickets.

A Halloween bash will be held Tuesday from 1-7 p.m. at Nick McCormick State Farm, 2295 Decherd Boulevard, Decherd. Enjoy trick-or-treating, hot dogs, popcorn, cider and hot chocolate.

Trunk or treat will be held Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at Elk River Health and Nursing Center of Winchester, 32 Memorial Dr., Winchester.

A classic car cruise-in and trunk or treat will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Chick-fil-A in Tullahoma.

Bring the young’uns to a spectacular Halloween trick or treat on Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. at the Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Winchester front parking lot, weather permitting.

Trunk or treat will be held at Huntland Pentecostal Church, 195 Lee Lane, Huntland, on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Candy, soups and drinks will be provided.

Jesus is the Light

Everyone is invited to a Jesus is the Light celebration on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. featuring chili, hot dogs, cotton candy, cider and a candy-and-fruit bag for children at the Greater Faith Community Church Christian Center, 100 Sims Lane, Tullahoma.

Pumpkin Mash 5k

A Pumpkin Mash 5k run/walk will be held Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Registration is $25. Sign-in starts at 7 a.m. with the route starting at South Middle School and continuing to Cowan and back.

Haunted trail

The Decherd Street Department and Decherd Recreation Committee invite everyone to enjoy a haunted trail on Saturday starting at dusk at the Decherd City Annex located on Fourth Avenue South in Decherd. This year, the trail will be a little longer. Safe candy will be given out during the event. Park in the field next to the Decherd Street Department with handicap parking available at the Annex. Fourth Avenue will be reduced to one lane to provide safety for any foot traffic. Transportation will be available at the start of the haunted trail.

Trunk or treat

Decherd First Baptist Church, 703 West Broad Street, Decherd, welcomes all ghosts, goblins, princesses, pirates, cartoon characters and other creatures to its trunk or treat on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.

Halloween fun

Halloween on the Square and a haunted house will be held in downtown Manchester on Tuesday from 3-5 p.m.
