Spiritual workshops offered at St. Mary’s Sewanee
St. Mary’s Sewanee is offering upcoming opportunities to all who may be interested in spiritual workshops and retreats.
A free, online workshop titled “Grace in Dying and Centering Prayer” will be held on Nov. 11. The Rev. Tom Ward will lead the event. Psychotherapist and Buddhism practitioner Kathleen Dowling Singh will join in the workshop.
Participants will consider different aspects of the aging process through presentations, small group discussions and the practice of centering prayer. Register at events.stmaryssewanee.org.
Mindfulness on the Mountain, an on-site weekend retreat, will be offered Dec. 1-3 at the St. Mary’s Sewanee Retreat Center in Sewanee.
This retreat offers meditation practitioners of any level an opportunity to find rest, renewal and reconnection.
Over the course of the weekend, participants will practice different types of meditations including walking, sitting and Qigong.
Each evening, different guests will speak about their experiences with meditation.
Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind and spirit with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being.
This event has a fee. For more information, register at events.stmaryssewanee.org.
The St. Mary’s Sewanee Retreat Center wants anyone who is seeking spiritual transformation to be allowed that opportunity. Anyone who finds it difficult to afford a program may contact reservations at 800-728-1659 for information about financial assistance.
