Middle school Lady Hornets fall to Community at home

The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets lost to the Community Viqueens 45-16 at home Tuesday for their sixth loss of the season.
The Lady Hornets struggled to score in the middle quarters as the Viqueens pulled ahead by double digits early and created a major deficit in the second half.
The Lady Hornets put up half of their total points in the first quarter alone while the Viqueens took a decent lead early.
Huntland trailed 16-8 after one quarter.
A free throw from Catara Johnson provided the only point of the second quarter for the Lady Hornets with the Viqueens almost doubling their early lead.
Huntland trailed 24-9 at halftime.
Abbey Mason hit a free throw which resulted in the only point of the third quarter for the Lady Hornets as the deficit grew to more than 20 points.
They trailed 38-10 going into the final period.
The Lady Hornets got their offense back on track in the fourth quarter, but they weren’t able to make up any ground as they lost by 29.
Abbey Mason led the Lady Hornets with eight points for the game, followed by Johnson with five points and Loralie Mason with two.
Millie Walker scored one point.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets moved to 3-6 on the season.
They will next play Tuesday at South Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
