Rebels drop basketball home opener to Webb

The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Webb Feet 65-44 at home Friday in their first game of the season.

The Rebels fell behind by double digits in the second quarter and weren’t able to overcome a significant halftime deficit in their season debut.

The Feet outshot the Rebels in the early moments of the contest to take a decent lead in the opening period.

Franklin County trailed 18-10 after one quarter.

The early deficit more than doubled in the second quarter as the Rebels weren’t able to match the scoring pace set by the Feet for the half.

Franklin County trailed 38-18 at halftime.

The Rebels got their offense on track in the third quarter as they more than doubled their point total for the day and chipped away a chunk of the deficit.

They trailed 51-38 going into the final period.

However, the Feet would pull back ahead by more than 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Rebels ultimately lost by 21. Kenyon Fuqua scored four of Franklin County’s six points in the fourth quarter.

Fuqua led the Rebels with 13 points for the game, followed by Aydin Horton with 10 points and Jacob Sanchez with six.

Kai Baker and Brayden Powers scored four points each, Jackson Worley scored three, and Willie Cobb and Brandon Walker scored two points each.

With the loss, the Rebels started the season with a record of 0-1.

They will next play Monday at home against Grundy County High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
