Grace Center of Hope
Grace Center of Hope opens its doors every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. with free programs for elementary and middle school children. Kids will be provided with help with homework, group tutoring, games, a meal and an interactive Bible lesson. Grace Center of Hope is located at 912 S. College St., Winchester.
FC Senior Citizens Center
The Franklin County Senior Citizens Center, 74 Clover Drive, Winchester, is available to provide daily entertainment and activities. The activities on Mondays include exercise by DVD from 9-10 a.m.; ceramics from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; brain games at 10 a.m.; bingo at 10:30 a.m.; line dancing from 10:30-11:30 a.m.; and coloring/painting from 11 a.m. There is also mahjong at noon on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Tuesday activities include chair yoga from 9-10 a.m.; ceramics from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; brain games at 10 a.m. and bingo at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday activities include ladies rook in the library at 11 a.m. Thursday activities include chair yoga from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and line dancing from 11 a.m. to noon. Friday activities include bunco at 10 a.m. and dancing from 6-9 p.m. for $5 per patron. The center also contains the Uptown Thrift Store which is open from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Donations of household items, clothing and accessories are needed at the thrift store.
Grief-support Sundays
Oaklawn Baptist Church, 108 Memorial Drive, Winchester, hosts a grief support group on Sundays at 4 p.m. Call Jennifer Mitchell at 678-763-5691 for more information.
May 7 Tennessee 250 celebration
A Tennessee 250 celebration will be held Thursday at the old high school football field, 839 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester, from 4-8 p.m. Attendees can enjoy an afternoon of familyfriendly fun with kids games, bounce houses, food truck, public-safety vehicles, a stunning historic mural, giveaways and booths from local nonprofits. Live entertainment will be provided by The Orange Charlie Band and the Stagger Moon Band. There will also be a kid zone and free barbecue while supplies last. The celebration will be held in conjunction with Franklin County’s National Day of Prayer event, which will begin at 6 p.m.
May 12 Republican Ladies meeting
The Franklin County Republican Ladies will be meeting on Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. at the Franklin County Annex Building’s large community room, 839 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester, for a luncheon meeting. Speaking will be District Attorney General Courtney Lynch. DA Lynch is the first women elected to this position in our district. She will tell attendees about her job and what it is like being the first woman in that position. Donations are appreciated for the lunch. Interested ladies are encouraged to come.
KOOL Club Golf Tournament
The second annual KOOL Club Golf Tournament will be held on May 15 at the Indian Hills Golf Course, 405 Calumet Trace, Murfreesboro, to raise money for the 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s scholarship. The tournament will open registration at 6:30 a.m. on the day of the event with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fees for a single player are $125, and payments can be sent via Zelle to koolclubscholarshipllc@ gmail.com, through CashApp or by making out a check payable to the Kool Club Scholarship, Attn: Edward L. Disabled American Veterans
The next meeting of the Disabled American Veterans, Fifth District, Chapter 71, will be on May 19 at 5 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1893 building, 6200 AEDC Road, Estill Springs. The meeting will start with a meal at a cost of $15 with the business portion of the meeting beginning at 5:45 p.m. All veterans are welcome.
