Mullin named supervisor of Exceptional Children Services

Franklin County Schools recently announced that Anna Mullin has been selected as the new supervisor of Exceptional Children Services, effective July 1, according to a press release.
Dr. Roger Alsup, incoming director of schools, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment:
“Bringing decades of valuable experience in compliance, advocacy and direct student support, Ms. Mullin deeply understands the unique strengths and needs of Franklin County families through her dedicated service as both an administrator and a classroom teacher,” he said. “I look forward to working alongside her in this new capacity to ensure all of our learners are positioned for lifelong success.”
Mullin brings a robust background in education administration and special-education compliance to the role, the press release said.
Most recently serving as a special-education teacher since July 2023, Mullin has dedicated her career to delivering individualized instruction to students with disabilities and collaborating with families to develop tailored, individualized education programs, the press release said.
Beyond the classroom, Mullin has extensive administrative and advocacy experience, the press release added.
She has served multiple terms as an assistant principal, spent more than a decade as a transition case manager and worked as a UniServ coordinator for the Tennessee Education Association.
Through these roles, she has managed state and federal compliance, coordinated employment and training for students with special needs and expertly navigated contract negotiations and conflict resolution, the press release said.
Key background highlights for Mullin include:
— Education: master of education in administration and supervision (summa cum laude), Middle Tennessee State University; Bachelor of Science in psychology, Campbell University.
— Awards: 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year for Sewanee Elementary School; 1996 Navy Achievement Medal.
— Leadership & service: Former president of the Franklin County Education Association (2015-2020) and a proud veteran (sergeant) of the United States Marine Corps.
