SYLER, Arthur
William “Rabbit”, age 71 of Belvidere, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on February 5, 1955. He retired from Pioneer Equipment, where he had been employed as a mechanic. An avid sportsman, he played on the basketball and baseball teams at Huntland High School as well as on the baseball team at Motlow State Community College. He enjoyed watching football, cheering for Alabama, Clemson and Tennessee and golf. Rabbit loved listening to music, especially songs from the 1980’s. A Christian man, he was of the Cumberland Presbyterian faith. A gentle giant, his strong will along with his quiet nature will be missed by all of those who loved them. Rabbit was preceded in death by his father, Ed E. Syler. He is survived by his loving mother, Shirley (Colbert) Syler; daughter, Felicia Syler; sister, Bettye Mayo; nieces, Misty (Travis) Boswell and Mellondy (Mark) Bartell; nephew, Greg (Sandy) Mayo; great-nieces, Megan Mayo, Brooke (Brent) Beiler, Courtney Mayo and Madigan Bartell; great-nephews, Tyler (Hannah) Boswell and Trenton Boswell; and several great-great-nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment followed at Belvidere Cemetery with Mark Bartell, Greg Mayo, Travis Boswell, Tyler Boswell, Trenton Boswell and Russell Williams serving as pallbearers.
