HANDSCHUH, Sandra

Sue, age 82, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving husband. She was born on February 1, 1944, in Vernon, Texas, to the late Finley and Inez Hill Thomas. SandrawasamemberofGum Springs Baptist Church. She had a loving and creative spirit and enjoyed raising dogs, baking, sewing and caring for her house plants. Some of her favorite memories were from the time she spent in Aviano, Italy and the United Kingdom. She was especially proud of her four boys, who were among her greatest accomplishments. Sandra also raised and showed Yorkshire terriers, a passion that brought her much joy. Throughout her life, Sandra worked as a school bus driver for the Austin School System in Austin, Texas, USAF in Aviano, Italy, and lastly became self-employed in Tullahoma. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who was kind, lovable and caring to those around her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her children, Brian Carpenter, John Carpenter, Jeffery Carpenter and Troy Carpenter; and siblings, Peggie Duncan and Jerry Thomas. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Handschuh; special friends, Mary Wilson, Holley Barber, Karon Acklin and Renne Sharp; and several other extended family members. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home.
