Gatorettes take road loss to Coffee County

The North Middle School Gatorettes lost to the Coffee County Lady Raiders 59-23 on the road Monday for their fourth loss of the season.

The Gatorettes fell behind by more than 30 points in the first half and weren’t able to bounce back as they took their third straight defeat.

Airiana Hill hit a trio of free throws to provide all of the scoring for the Gatorettes in the opening period while the Lady Raiders quickly took a 20-point lead.

North trailed 23-3 after one quarter.

The Gatorettes fell further behind in the second quarter with Shekinah Miller scoring all five points for North in the period.

They trailed 39-8 at halftime.

The Gatorettes more than doubled their point total in the third quarter, but the deficit continued to grow against them.

They trailed 57-19 going into the final period.

The Gatorettes made only a small dent in the deficit in the fourth quarter as they went on to lose by 36 points.

Miller led the Gatorettes with 12 points for the game, followed by Hill and Keira Turner with four points each.

Isabella Gilliam scored two points and Vivian Baggett scored one.

With the loss, the Gatorettes moved to 2-4 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at home against Warren County Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
