Trojans outpaced by Coffee County in home loss

The South Middle School Trojans lost to the Coffee County Raiders 40-27 at home Thursday for their third loss of the season.

The Trojans were slightly outscored in the first three quarters with the Raiders fully pulling away in the final period to give them a loss.

The score was kept tight throughout the opening period with Levi Lindsey scoring all five points for South in the first quarter.

The Trojans trailed 6-5 after one quarter.

The Raiders added a few more points to their advantage in the second quarter with the Trojans remaining just a few steps behind through the end of the half.

South trailed 14-10 at halftime.

Both teams had their highest-scoring period in the third quarter with the Raiders gaining a few more points of separation from the Trojans.

South trailed 28-22 going into the final period.

The Raiders were able to pull away in the fourth quarter as they gave the Trojans the loss by 13 points.

Lindsey led the Trojans with nine points for the game, followed by Kaveon Sutton with seven points and William Money with four.

Odeviyon Poe scored three points, and Jacoba Fells and Brennan Taylor scored two points each.

With the loss, the Trojans moved to 3-3 on the season.

They will next play Monday at home against Harris Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
