Lady Trojans fall to Warren County in road matchup

The South Middle School Lady Trojans lost to the Warren County Lady Pioneers 34-12 on the road Monday for their second loss of the season.

The Lady Trojans fell behind by double digits early in the game and were limited to just three points after halftime as the loss moved their overall record for the year below .500.

The score was kept close in the opening period with the Lady Pioneers jumping out to a slight early lead.

South trailed 8-5 after one quarter.

The deficit grew substantially in the second quarter with the Lady Trojans facing a double-digit deficit going into the halftime break.

They trailed 21-9 at the end of the first half.

The Lady Trojans were held scoreless in the third quarter as the Lady Pioneers were able to push the deficit up to more than 20 points.

South trailed 30-9 going into the final period.

A 3-pointer from Zoe Cole gave the Lady Trojans their only points of the fourth quarter as the final deficit settled at 22.

Zoe Cole and Addyson Hill led the Lady Trojans with three points each for the game, followed by Victoria Latham and Khylee Speich with two points each.

Svetlana Fuqua and Chloe Cole scored one point each.

With the loss, the Lady Trojans moved to 1-2 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at home against East Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
