Cross country Rebels, Rebelettes run in Randolph Invitational

The Franklin County High School boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Randolph Invitational Saturday at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
The Franklin County Rebel and Rebelette runners combined for eight top-200 finishes in the Large School division for the competitive meet, including three top-100 placements.
Ruby Webb had the top overall placement for Franklin County as she finished 70th out of 262 runners in the Large School girls race with a time of 22:38.51.
Caitlyn Cashion also raced into the top 100 for the day on the girls side as she finished 98th with a mark of 23:25.23.
Catherine Money and Audrey Stewart finished within seconds of each other as they placed 121st and 122nd, respectively, with times of 23:52.38 and 23:54.
The remaining runners for the Rebelettes and their times and placements for the day included Zulema Martinez, 164th, 25:20.27; Calli Alonso, 188th, 26:32.77; Lily Heath, 213th, 27:35.26; and Addy Hannaway, 230th, 28:59.32.
As a team, the Rebelettes finished 18th out of 22 in the Large School division with a group score of 484. Houston finished first in the standings with a combined score of 89.
Owen Stewart had the best performance for the Rebels in the Large School boys race as he finished 98th out of 381 runners for the event with a time of 18:02.54.
The next member of the Rebels to cross the finish line was Daniel Heath in 157th place with a mark of 19:08.17.
Jasper Henley completed the course in 20:16.34 to take 232nd place, and Austin Heath followed shortly afterward in 244th place with a time of 20:37.41.
The remaining runners for the Rebels and their times and placements for the day included Josh Smith, 261st, 21:03.19; Michael Vasenko, 302nd, 22:01.63; Mason Phillips, 315th, 22:20.1; and Kane Hawkersmith, 318th, 22:21.66.
The Rebels placed 23rd out of 26 teams in the Large School boys standings with a total score of 709. McCallie School took the top spot for the day with a team score of 43.
The FCHS boys and girls cross country teams will next compete on Oct. 25 in the Region 4A-AA championship meet at Henry Horton State Park. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
