Middle school Lady Hornets pull away late at Fayetteville

The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets beat the Fayetteville Lady Tigers 4-0 on the road Monday for their second win of the season.

The Lady Hornets scored all of their goals in the second half to secure a decisive victory away from home.

Huntland Middle head soccer coach Shaun Mason said that his team got off a slow start with plenty of missed scoring opportunities in the first half.

The Lady Hornets began to find the net with their shots in the second half as Kerrigan Hall got the scoring started by firing the ball into the goal off an assist from Naomi Morris

Kylar Keith added to the lead shortly afterward as another assist from Morris led to Keith’s first goal of the season to make it a 2-0 game.

Loralie Mason was the next Lady Hornet to get on the board as she scored off an assist from Abbey Mason for her third goal of the year.

Hall bookended the scoring for the Lady Hornets as she notched her second goal of the day and her third of the season off an assist from Loralie Mason to put the final deficit at four.

Shaun Mason credited Stratton Davis with leading the defensive effort for the Lady Hornets as they recorded their second shutout of the season.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 2-2-1 on the season.

They will next play Wednesday at home against St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
