FC Middle Rebelettes top Tullahoma in conference semis

The Franklin County Middle Rebelettes beat the Tullahoma Lady Wildcats 2-1 on the road Wednesday in a semifinal game for the Central Tennessee Conference tournament.
The Rebelettes saw an early lead turn into a tied game in the second half, but they retook the lead later in the period on a penalty kick and held on to win and advance to the conference championship game.
Molly Moore staked the Rebelettes to an early advantage as she hooked a corner kick into the net in the first half.
They led 1-0 at halftime.
The Lady Wildcats found an equalizer early in the second half by scoring on a long free kick which went just over the head of FC Middle goalkeeper Lilah Banks.
The Rebelettes were given a golden opportunity to pull back in front later in the half when Vivian Baggett was tripped in the goal box.
Moore stepped in to take the ensuing penalty kick, and she buried the shot in the net for her second goal of the day and her 11th of the season.
The Rebelettes held the Lady Wildcats off the board for the time remaining to seal the narrow one-goal victory.
FC Middle head soccer coach Matthew Parkerson said Victoria Nelson, Keren Quintanilla and Baggett all played very well on the outside of the field offensively and defensively, and Moore, Hadley Jolley and Payton Dearing turned in equally strong performances in the midfield.
With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 8-3-1 on the season.
They will next play Saturday at Harris Middle School in the CTC championship game. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
