The Huntland High School Lady Hornets lost to the Culleoka Lady Warriors 4-1 on the road Thursday for their third loss of the season.

The Lady Hornets fell behind early and weren’t able to produce enough on offense to mount a comeback as they took their third straight defeat on the field.

Huntland head soccer coach Amanda Tipps said her team played hard and kept the ball on the opposing side of the field for a good chunk of the game, but they weren’t able to capitalize on enough scoring opportunities when they were available.

The Lady Warriors scored the first two goals of the day to quickly put the Lady Hornets in an early hole.

The Lady Hornets got on the board later in the first half with Bristol Moon scoring off an assist from Piper Cox for her first goal of the season.

The Lady Warriors added one more goal just before halftime to put the deficit back at two.

The Lady Hornets trailed 3-1 at halftime.

The Lady Warriors scored one more time midway through the second half, and the Lady Hornets weren’t able to answer back as they lost by three.

With the loss, the Lady Hornets moved to 5-3 on the season.

They will next play Monday at home against Cascade High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
