Hornet golfers compete against Eagleville, Moore in road match

The Huntland High School boys golf team competed in a nine-hole match Wednesday at the Henry Horton Golf Course against the teams of Eagleville and Moore County.

The Hornet golfers placed third in the team standings for the day with a combined score of 216. The Eagleville Eagles comfortably finished first with a score of 167, and the Moore County Raiders recorded a mark of 203 to take the middle spot in the standings.

Lucas Freeman led the Hornets in scoring for the day as he completed his nine holes in 51 strokes.

Teammate Landon Farmer wasn’t too far behind as he shot a score of 53 for the match.

Kamden Smith and Carson Riley both carded scores of 56 on the course to round out the contributions to Huntland’s overall score.

The Hornet golfers will next compete on Tuesday in a nine-hole match at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford against the teams of Moore County and Community. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
