 BROWN, Billie Earline, age 70, of Decherd, passed away on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital.  She was born on Jan. 14, 1953, in Wayne County, Michigan, to the late Virginia Marietta Kirk. Billie was a 1971 graduate of Franklin County High School. She was a former waitress and cook, and after moving back to Tennessee in 1994, she went to work for Dutch until her health would not allow her.  In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Sue Harmern and Jessica West.  Billie is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Roy Brown; sons, Roy Dan Brown, Kelly Dewayne Brown and Little Jen Farless; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.  Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.  Services were conducted on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment followed in Watson Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, 931-967-2222, www.moorecortner.com. 

MARTHA FANNING

 FANNING, Martha Ann Crocker, 82 of Lynchburg, died Aug. 8, 2023. Survivors: children, Stephen (Brooke) Fanning of Lynchburg, and Susie (Randy) Adcock of Shelbyville; siblings, Helen Crocker of Lynchburg, Sue Rozar of Fayetteville, and Jimmy Crocker of Shelbyville. LAMAR FOSTER

 FOSTER, Lamar Edward “Buddy,” age 22, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023.  He was born in Winchester on Oct. 9, 2000.  Lamar was currently employed by the City of Manchester in maintenance for the Parks and Recreation Department.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hanging out with his friends and listening to country music and was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteers fan. He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Stacy Veanettie; grandfather/dad, Hobert Foster, Sr.; and grandmother/mother, Glenda Foster. Lamar is survived by his mother/aunt, Niki (Michael) Pittman of Decherd; father, Hobert Foster of Chattanooga; sisters/cousins, Alyssa (Tyler) Frasier of Manchester, Chelsy Carroll of Winchester, Chasity Winton of Monteagle, and Erin (Logan) Martin of McMinnville; brothers/cousins, Joe Carroll of McMinnville, and Derek Morris of Fayetteville; and many other aunts, cousins, family and friends.  Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the Roy B. PAUL WILDMAN

WILDMAN, Paul Edward, age 70, of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at his home. He was born on April 6, 1953, in Winchester, Tennessee, to the late Charles and Dorothy Bolin Wildman. He retired from Redd’s Heating & Air and was of the Baptist faith. Paul enjoyed fishing, classic cars, especially his 1977 Corvette and the 1998 Mustang he bought as a birthday gift for his wife, Jean. Saturday is the family day at the Wildman’s, and that is where Paul found his greatest joy of spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his furry companion, “Flash.” Along with his wife of 46 years, Jean Barnes Wildman, Paul is survived by his daughters, Sherry Toney and her husband, Shane, Michelle Wildman Wilson and her husband, Daniel and Katherine Kilgore; grandchildren, Tori, Dannielle, Alex, Angel, Paige, Abby, Logan and Anna; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Michael and Ember; brothers, Anthony Wildman (Susan) and Dale Hill (Connie); sister, Carolyn Weddington (Sam); and several extended family members and a host of friends. JOEL WELLS

WELLS, Joel Lawrence, age 79, of Winchester, Tennessee, departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at his residence with his loving family at his side after losing a brief battle with cancer.  Mr. Wells was born in Winchester, Tennessee, on May 24, 1944, to the late Sherman Wells and Annie Estell Lewis Wells.  He was a member of the End Time Mission Church in Estill Springs.  Mr. Wells was employed at several different companies during his working years.  He was employed for approximately 20 years as an auto mechanic with Highland Tire and Brake.  He was last employed with Worth Bat in Tullahoma until his retirement.  He loved to fish and hunt when he was younger and able.  His favorite hobby was doing woodcarving; he would spend hours on his carvings.  He will be remembered as hardworking “hard headed” and tough.  He was raised “old school.”  He was a loving and supportive father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Mr. Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife of approximately 50 years and mother of his children, Mary Katherine Wells;  his second wife, Mamie Sue Wells; and sister, Linda Wells. He is survived by his four sons, Jeff Wells, Randall Wells and wife, Chasity all of Tullahoma, and Jerry Wells and Jason Wells, both of Winchester; sister, Elizabeth Chamblee and husband, Freddie of Winchester; brother, E.J. Wells and wife, Donna of Winchester; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services followed by services at 1 p.m. with Bro. Johnny Turner officiating.  Interment followed in the Gault Cemetery in Estill Springs where he was laid to rest beside his beloved wives.  Family and friends served as pallbearers. 

ROBERT FARMER

FARMER, Robert Terrell, age 92, of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023, at Bailey Manor.  He was born in Elora, Tennessee, on July 29, 1931, to the late Ernest Arvil and Hellice Marie (Garner) Farmer.  Terrell served his country in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard.  Before his retirement, he had been employed at AEDC as an electrical operator.  When he was able, Terrell enjoyed playing golf and working on TVs and treadmills, as well as going on walks, watching races at Winchester Speedway and going to the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center. But most of all, he cherished the time spent with his beloved family and loved planning family vacations. Terrell had an interest in helping the community that he loved so much.  He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Farmer and brothers, Dwight Farmer, Clarence Farmer and Leland Farmer.  Terrell is survived by his children, Janice (Ronnie) Ray, Linda Simpson (Mark) Gass and Betsy (Drew) Pearson; grandchildren, Melony (Jim) Malone, Misty (Chris) Moses, Joshua (Brittany) Simpson and Jacob (Taylor) Simpson; great-grandchildren, Kaylee (Alex) Noles, Hunter (Allie) Thomas, Hannah Thomas and Camden Simpson; great-great-grandson, Owen Noles; brother, Edwin (Edie) Farmer; and several nieces and nephews.  Visitation was held on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m. at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, 931-967-2222, www.moorecortner.com.

 JOHNSON, Savannah Carol, age 56, of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at Highland Medical Center in Scottsboro, Alabama.  She was born in on Dec. 10, 1966, in Stevenson, Alabama, to the late John Henry and Shirley Jean (Richardson) Smith, Jr.  Savannah was currently employed by Coca-Cola as a technician.  She enjoyed fishing and camping as well as collecting dinosaurs, dragons and Coca-Cola memorabilia.  Savannah will be remembered for her strong will and for being loyal and trustworthy as well as for her kind nature as she would give anyone the shirt off her back.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Johnson; brother, David L. Smith; and son, Quentin Stacy.  Savannah is survived by her children, Eli Stacy and Stephanie Stacy; daughter-in-law, Amanda Stacy; grandchildren, Ruby Stacy and Addi Stacy; siblings, Linda Parker, Teresa Lint, John E. ANGELA KEAGLE

KEAGLE, Angela Sue, age 63, of Elora, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at her residence while surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on March 16, 1960, in West Palm Beach, Florida.  Over the years Angela had worked in assembly at several local factories.  She enjoyed flower gardening and decorating for every season, especially fall and Christmas, as well as going shopping and to work with her sister.  Angela’s outgoing personality, kind nature and love for her family and friends will be dearly missed by those who knew her.  She was preceded in death by her father, Edward “Ed” Yearty; brother, Eddie Yearty; and grandparents, R.N. CHARLES HORTON

HORTON, Charles “Charlie” Edward, age 73, of Winchester, passed away on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.  A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester, on Oct. 25, 1949, to the late James Edward and Lizzie Mae (Haney) Horton.  Before his retirement he had been employed by TVA and the City of Chattanooga as a cement finisher and was a scrap metal hauler.   He always enjoyed working and almost never missed a day. Charlie loved taking walks in the city park with his four-legged best friend Toby when he was able. He was an avid Tennessee Volunteers football fan.  Charlie’s wonderful sense of humor and happy-go-lucky personality, as well as his humble and kind nature will be missed by his family and friends.  He was a member of the Winchester Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Horton; son, Charlie P. Horton; daughter, Francy Wesson; and siblings, Wanda Rogers, Susie Bohanan, Bobby Horton, Greg Horton, Bill Horton and David Horton.  Charlie is survived by his granddaughter, Erica Wesson; brother, Johnny Horton; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.  Services were conducted on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, at noon in the chapel of Moore- Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. LINDA CARTER

CARTER, Linda Sue Hambrick, age 51, of Huntland, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System in Winchester.  She was born in Tullahoma on April 12, 1972, to the late Melvin and Sue Smith Hambrick.  A dedicated homemaker, Linda Sue was devoted to taking care of her beloved family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandson.  She will be remembered for her big heart and beautiful smile and as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.  Linda Sue attended Christian Friendship Church in Tullahoma.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Buck and Dorothy Smith, and Virgil and Ethel Hambrick, Sr.; mother-in-law, Doris Cussins; and brother-in-law, Richie Carter.  Linda Sue is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Michael Carter of Huntland; children, Krista Carter, Matthew Carter and Michael Dakota Carter (Chloe Thorne); grandson, Rylan Carter; brother, Timmy Hambrick; father-in-law, Richard Carter; sister-in-law, Becky (Terry) Neeley; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.  Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.   Services were conducted on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment followed at Smith Family Cemetery.  Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, 931-967-2222, www.moorecortner.com. 

CHARLOTTE SHTRICK

SHTRICK, Charlotte Jean Brown, (1939-2023), age 84, left this world on Thursday, July 6, 2023, after a long and well-fought battle with cancer. She leaves to grieve her beloved daughter, Joy Jun Rousso of Charlotte; son-in-law, Paul Albert Rousso; grandsons, Maxwell Jun Rousso of Berlin, Germany, and Alexander Paul Rousso of Charlotte; sisters, Isabelle Jean Trebing of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Pulaski, Tennessee, and Colleen Estill Brown of Madison, Georgia; her favorite niece, Shannon Sloan Wright and great-nephew, Landon, of Norfolk, Virginia; nephews, Justin Sloan and his two sons, Braden and Ethan, of Denison, Texas, and nephews, Troy Gupton of Athens, Georgia, and Ryan Gupton of Fayetteville, Georgia; step-daughter, Laura Karp; step-grandsons, Jacob and Benjamin Karp of Scottsdale, Arizona; and cousins and friends all over the world, as well as her beloved Siamese cat, Sake. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Wood Brown and Isabelle McFarlane Young; her first husband, Channing Sik Jun; her second husband, Samuel David Shtrick; and her son-in-law, David Blair Favrot, Jr. Jean was born in Calhoun, Georgia, on June 27, 1939 and raised in Tullahoma, Tennessee, where she graduated from Tullahoma High School with the class of 1957. She graduated in 1960 from St. Thomas Nursing School in Nashville, Tennessee as a Registered Nurse. After graduation she married Channing Sik Jun, MD, a surgeon, formerly of Korea, and they lived with young Joy in far-flung places and expanded her nursing resume in exponential ways, before settling into a life and practice in Eastman, Georgia in 1965. Jean managed her husband’s surgical office and their lives’ many passions: she became an expert in and an enthusiast of Asian and Tiffany antiques, unique antique and classic automobiles, musical instruments, Great Danes, Siamese cats, travel, food, culture and life in this rollicking world. Jean went on to have a second career in real estate with Jenny Pruett in Atlanta, Georgia, and later Metro Brokers, and a second marriage to Dave Shtrick, with whom she spent many happy years in the mountains of North Georgia at her home in Young Harris. Jean and Dave finally settled in Indian Land, South Carolina, to be nearer to her daughter and her adoring grandsons, who called her “Mom.” The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Nilanjan Ghosh, whose wonderful care and ingenuity added years to Jean’s life and life to her years. Shenna Anderson, a most valued friend and brilliant organizer, brought comfort, vision and care when Jean and her family needed it most. Countless but important medical personnel brought kindness, care and appreciation of Jean as a colleague during her years as a patient. Jean was ever the consummate nurse and made and kept many lifelong friends from high school and nursing school and everywhere her universe intersected with others. Her advice to others was valued beyond words, and she gave it generously and lucidly all her life to those wise enough to seek it. She was a champion for underdogs, both of the four-legged and human varieties, and her kindness toward and curiosity over the wondrous world we all inhabit was boundless. Jean will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her genealogy talents, her brains and her nursing skills, her flawless and beautiful skin and her prodigious conversational charm as she held forth on her vast repertoire of knowledge of the big world, and will be sorely missed in this world. She lived her entire life without complaint from beginning to end. She leaves us all with the advice that we need to wear sunscreen. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Red Hat Society, as well as numerous professional organizations. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Carolinas Lymphoma and CLL Fund at Levine Cancer Institute, The David Favrot, Jr. Honor Scholarship at Washington and Lee University, or the charity of your choice. RAYCE KENNEDY

 KENNEDY, Rayce Anthony, age 25, of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at his residence.  He was born at Baptist Hospital in Nashville on Jan. 11, 1998, to Mark Anthony and Tina Marie (Clark) Kennedy.  Rayce was employed as a commercial diver, doing welding, inspections and maintenance at dive sights and he also did commercial work for Penn State and Shedd Aquarium.  He was passionate about scuba diving and enjoyed travelling for work and pleasure to anywhere there was water.  He also enjoyed fishing and hunting when he was younger. He was saved in the Baptist faith and was a loving, compassionate and forgiving soul who wanted to help others.  Full of life, Rayce was free- spirited and enjoyed spending time talking with people; He never ended a phone call without saying, “I love you.”  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Joyce Kennedy.  Rayce is survived by his parents, Mark and Tina Kennedy of Winchester; sister, Elizabeth Marie (Thomas) Jones of Jacksonville, North Carolina; nephews, Clark, Ethan and Tommy Jones; grandparents, Larry and Thelma Clark; aunts and uncles, Pam (Billy) Anderson, Dennis (Karen) White, Jeff (Melissa) Kennedy, James (Judy) Kennedy and April (Joey) Arnold; and several cousins.  Visitation was held on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with services following at 2 p.m. in the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. KEVIN FRYE

FRYE, Kevin Kyle, age 25, of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System.  A native of Franklin County, he was born on Aug. 29, 1997.  Kevin was a 2017 graduate of Franklin County High School.  He was a spokesperson and coordinator for MDA Jamboree by the Lake, Quackers for MDA, Fill the Boot, and Shamrock for MDA.  His goal was to raise Franklin County’s awareness for MDA, and in doing so was a 2008 Goodwill Ambassador and received the Sunshine Award. Kevin was a dedicated member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.  An avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering for the University of Tennessee Volunteers, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Braves and NASCAR.  He also enjoyed playing live video games in his spare time. Kevin’s family and friends will remember his infectious laugh and heart of gold. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Deborah Wicklander, Emanuela Frye and Daniel Frye.  Kevin is survived by his mother, Carol (Dwight) Key; father, Daniel S. WILLIAM FITZPATRICK

FITZPATRICK, William Larry, age 77, departed this life on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at STRHS-Winchester, following an extended illness.  Mr. Fitzpatrick was born in Winchester, Tennessee, to the late Benny Franklin Fitzpatrick, Sr. and Elsie Lilliemae Brannon Fitzpatrick.  He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Winchester.  Mr. Fitzpatrick was employed for approximately 25 years as manager of the Sewanee Market.  He was also employed after leaving Sewanee Market, at Bates Grocery in Winchester for approximately 13 years and was last employed for Walmart for five years when he retired.  He enjoyed fishing when he was younger.  He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were the New York Yankees baseball team, the University of Alabama football team and especially his favorite was the Vanderbilt Commodores.  He enjoyed cooking as well as eating. Mr. Fitzpatrick was a “fun loving” person who was always willing to help anyone that needed help.  He will be remembered as an honest man who loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Terry Fitzpatrick; brothers, James and Robert Taylor, Benny Fitzpatrick, Jr., Carlton and Lionel Fitzpatrick; and sisters, Pauline Taylor, Jennie Mae Petty and Linda Kay Fitzpatrick. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Fitzpatrick; sisters, Lina Lewis, Dorothy Taylor and husband, Howard; and sons, Sean and Stacey Fitzpatrick, all of Winchester; and a special close friend, Horace Mayes of Estill Springs and one granddaughter. JEWELL BAILEY

 BAILEY, Jewell Lorene, age 97, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023. She was born on Oct. 3, 1925, in Moore County, Tennessee to Lem C. Hatchett and Addie Lee Snell Hatchett. Raised at Marble Plains, Mrs. Bailey was a Civil Service retiree from GSA in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a member of Marble Plains Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, James Alton Pierce, Jr. and William Y. Bailey; two sons, James Alton Pierce, III and Ellis Wayne Pierce; a sister, Odell Durm; and parents, Lem and Addie Hatchett. She is survived by her brother, Claude and Faye Hatchett of Villanow, Georgia; three grandchildren, Shane Pierce of Lithia Springs, Georgia, Crystal Campbell of Silver Creek, Georgia, and Brandy and Hero Yagisawa of Japan; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea Campbell of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Brett Pierce of Lithia Springs, Georgia, and Kazu and Yumi Yagisawa of Japan; one niece; three nephews; and several cousins.  TRUSSELL, Patsy Jean, age 80, of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on Sept. 23, 1942. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Patsy will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was also addressed by some very special loved ones as Mama Pat, Noni and Aunt Patty. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nannie B. Rogers; brother, Carl (C.T.) Rogers; and husband, Ronnie Trussell. Patsy is survived by her loving sons, Tracy Trussell of Atlanta, Georgia, Darrell Trussell of Decherd, Tennessee, and Eric (Christy) Trussell of Estill Springs, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jamie Garner of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Erica (Ryan) Harrison of Cottontown, Tennessee, and Bailey Trussell of Estill Springs, Tennessee; sister, Judy (Bryant) Jones of Tullahoma, Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Patsy had a larger-than-life presence. She had a warm, welcoming spirit, undeniable sophistication and style and such a zest for life. She was well traveled and was always looking for the next adventure. She loved her family and friends but most of all she adored her grandchildren. She loved the Lord and looked for the beauty in His creation. Aside from her love of travel, she enjoyed entertaining, shopping, boating, playing cards (especially bridge), decorating, cooking (she was well-known for her homemade apple pie) and spending time with her fur babies. Although she will be missed, we find comfort in knowing she is rejoicing with the saints who have gone on before. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Franklin Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jerry Stewart officiating. This is open to everyone, friends and family alike. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. A special note of thanks to Dr. Patrick Murphy and staff at Tennessee Oncology in Williamson County. Also, to the nurses and aids as well as the entire staff at Gentiva Hospice and to Patsy’s beloved sister, Judy, who provided her the utmost care through it all.
