Rebel golfers compete in district match at Bear Trace

The Franklin County High School boys and girls golf teams competed in a nine-hole match Tuesday at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford against the teams of Coffee County and Lincoln County.
The Rebel golfers finished second as a team in the boys and girls standings for the match with the Franklin County boys ending the contest with a total score of 181.
The Coffee County Raiders took the top spot for the boys standings with a group score of 166 while the Lincoln County Falcons recorded a score of 214 to finish third.
Chase Towry had the top performance of any individual in the match as he ended the day with a score of 38 across his nine holes.
Brody Metcalf and Brady Hall both shot scores of 47 for the day, and Jackson Lynch completed the course in 49 strokes to round out the team scoring for Franklin County.
Also in competition for the Franklin County boys in the match were Evan Lynch and Garrett Patterson who finished with scores of 50 and 63, respectively.
On the girls side, the Rebelette golfers also finished in the middle of the standings as their combined score of 103 put them just ahead of Coffee County’s tally of 105 strokes while Lincoln County finished first with a score of 93.
Amelia Maxon led the Rebelettes for the match as she shot a score of 50 for the day, and Savana Pendergraff wasn’t too far behind her teammate as she completed the course in 53 strokes to give the team its final point total.
The Franklin County golfers will next compete on Aug. 16 in an 18-hole tournament at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
